Subway Art - Martha Cooper, Henry Chalfant E-BOOK

Libro que hizo época, Subway Art, publicado en 1984, es con frecuencia considerado como el catalizador y fundador del movimiento mundial del graffiti.Martha Cooper es una veterana fotógrafa estadounidense especializada en arte y antropología, que tuvo el mérito y la fortuna de ser una de las primeras fotógrafas que documentó metódicamente los orígenes de un nuevo fenómeno que emergía en las calles de Nueva York. Se sumergió durante los 70 y 80 en la cultura del Hip-Hop, y la retrató, para luego mostrársela, sin tapujos, al resto del mundo. Fotógrafa cazatrenes, de obras murales, de b-boys, de mc's, de breakers... que aireó magistralmente los años dorados del Hip-Hop. Martha Cooper es fotógrafa pero más allá de eso, es una persona que ha dedicado su vida a la fotografía urbana y en concreto al “urban art”. En este caso Subway Art en conjunto con Henry Chalfant es uno de sus registros mas importantes ya que casi detalladamente expone y declara el graffiti como un verdadero arte.Henry Chalfant, fotógrafo y antropologo, de formación escultor, comenzó a fotografiar las pintadas del metro a mediados de los años 70 del siglo pasado y continuó en los años 80. El período en el cual él fotografió las pintadas del metro de New York City a los niveles más altos de la creatividad. Fotografió trabajos importantes de artistas tales como: LEE, DONDI, SKEME, SEEN, BLADE y muchos otros.Como reconoce SEEN (famoso "escritor" de entonces): “difícilmente podrá verse Nueva York, ni casi ninguna ciudad del mundo, tan castigada como la dejaron ellos, benditos hijos de puta. El arte ilegal siempre ha tenido una energía que nunca tendrá el legal y la adrenalina que tuvo entonces es sólo un recuerdo, diluido en el aire de la actual Nueva York de la tolerancia cero."

The Trascontinental es un álbum bien logrado en los dos ámbitos mas aún con las colaboraciones estelares de Rakaa, Rapper Big Pooh, Chino XL, Oh-No, Wildchild, Prince Po, entre otros. A escuchar, es probable que lo reporten, así que no lo piensen en bajar si les interesa.

La Pelicula de Hip Hop Notorious cuenta con Angela Basset, Derek Luke, Jamal Woolard, Anthony Mackie y es dirigida por George Tillman, Jr..
